Digital Wellness Literacy: An Important Element of TeleHealth Adoption

The digital health space is one where demand and adoption lags behind an overwhelming supply of apps, applications, platforms, etc. Among several factors behind this imbalance is a lack of literacy by healthcare professionals, patients and consumers who can benefit from digital health tools and methods. This talk will introduce the StressTech Literacy Model, a framework for thinking about and operationalizing tech-enabled wellness.

Additionally, this talk will comment on the implication of a lack of literacy for adoption and the improved healthcare outcomes that it can yield. Finally, this talk with offer a few suggestions for how we can all make digital health literacy part of the change management process in our digital health projects.

Digital Health Strategist & Researcher, The Digital Mental Health Project

Craig A. DeLarge is a digital healthcare strategist and mental health advocate at The Digital Mental Health Project, where he produces education programs and research which help behavioral health professionals improve adoption of their services using digital technology.

In his career, as a digital & healthcare marketer, strategist and educator, he has managed in and with world-class firms like Novo Nordisk, GlaxoSmithKline, Merck & Co., Takeda and Johnson & Johnson, as well as teaching at Temple University, Philadelphia University, Chestnut Hill College, St. Joseph’s University and Penn State University. His career is focused on “improving health” & “developing leaders”.

He holds bachelor’s and master’s degree in Marketing and Design Management from Philadelphia University (USA) (BSc), and from the University of Westminster (UK) (MBA). He is currently a graduate Public Health student at King’s College, London. He is also a certified professional coach and published author of The WiseWorking Handbook (2014).

He resides in Philadelphia, PA, USA.

Telehealth Liaison for Rogers Behavioral Health

Courtney is a dedicated occupational therapist with a master’s degree from Midwestern University in Downers Grove. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in business management that is complemented by minors in marketing and Spanish. With over 13 years of experience, she has passionately cared for and advocated for populations across the lifespan in various healthcare settings.

When not working, she enjoys reading, playing tennis, hiking, baking, and cherishing moments with her family.

Experienced healthcare leader bridging innovative technology with compassionate care to optimize behavioral health outcomes. As Associate Director of Operations for a virtual telehealth clinic, I champion the delivery of services across four states, leveraging my expertise in public health and health informatics to enhance access, streamline operations, and improve patient experiences. Passionate about driving positive change through data-driven strategies and advanced solutions that reduce the burden on staff while maximizing clinical impact.

Timothy Ellingstad
Clinical Director, Rogers Behavioral Health

Timothy Ellingstad, PhD, is a licensed clinical psychologist and clinical director of Rogers Behavioral Health’s telehealth and outpatient mental health services. In addition, Dr Ellingstad serves as the clinical director of Rogers’ Kenosha, Wisconsin, clinic where he trains and supervises behavioral health staff working in partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient levels of care for adult and child/adolescent programs for OCD, anxiety disorders, mood disorders and other mental health concerns.

Dr. Ellingstad received his bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. He earned his doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Dr. Ellingstad completed a doctoral internship at the University of California at San Diego/La Jolla Veterans Administration Healthcare System, followed by a post-doctoral fellowship in psychology at the University of California, San Diego’s Department of Psychology with a focus on adolescent substance use research and treatment.

Prior to joining Rogers, Dr. Ellingstad was a clinical psychologist at Aurora Medical Group, where he practiced outpatient treatment, psychological assessment, and testing for adults and adolescents. He also provided consultation to medical staff in hospital and outpatient settings. He has clinical expertise in substance use treatment, OCD, anxiety disorders, depression, bipolar spectrum disorders, trauma, and psychosis. He has co-authored several publications on substance use treatment, including a book and a book chapter.
